Gozo & Comino

Gozo is very famous for its mythologies. It is said to be the isle of Homer's Odyssey and it is full of baroque churches and farmhouses. The rugged landscape is great for those who want to explore and you will also find that it is home to some of the best dive sites in the Mediterranean. You will also find that Gozo is home to many different historical sites and panoramas, not to mention that it is also home to one of the finest prehistoric temples as well. This is known as Ggantija and it is much older than the pyramids of Egypt.

Comino is home to the Blue Lagoon and this is quite possibly one of the most attractive sights in the area. Comino is also named after the famous Cumin seed that used to flourish in the Maltese islands. It is also well known for its high level of isolation and this adds to the interesting dynamic that this island has to offer. Nowadays, Comino is often considered to be a bird sanctuary that is completely devoted to nature.

The island of Comino is made up of mostly shrubland and sand dunes. The island supports 50-80 breeding pairs of Yelkouan Shearwaters. Gozo, on the other hand, is known for its carnivals. These festivals are a very important tradition for those who live in the area and they are often combined with fireworks and bands as well. This normally happens every weekend in the summer season and many people from Malta come over to Gozo during this time as well. You will also find that in the village of Nadur, people dress up in outrageous costumes so they are not recognized by one another, further strengthening the sense of community that this island has to offer.
